Embed Films on Demand videos

This is great news. You can now embed a Films on Demand player in your webpages. This means your online course content can have the film embedded, just like YouTube and other online video services.

This will work seamlessly on campus and the video will be immediately available to view. Off campus students will need to login to Films on Demand first, from the library home page.

To embed these films in Laulima pages, please refer to the library's visual tutorial.

Films on Demand is the UHMC Library's online streaming video service. If you haven't looked at Films on Demand lately, please do. It is updated each month with new films. The service hosts almost 10,000 videos.

Using LibX and Zotero Together.

The three main difficulties faced by library users are (1) how to navigate among the library catalog, (2) how to search the catalog effectively, and (3) how to manage information once it is found. LibX drastically simplifies the first two tasks, and Zotero simplifies the last task. Put them together and you've just streamlined the entire research experience in a fairly dramatic way. Take a look at this tutorial.

Faculty workshop

Ellen Peterson, our wonderful MCC librarian, will give us an overview of how to use Zotero, [zoh-TAIR-oh] a free, easy-to-use Firefox extension to help collect, manage, cite, and share all types of research sources. Come this Friday, Sept. 11 to the library classroom from 12:30 to 1:00 or so before Faculty Senate.
